Veteran’s Park
Veteran’s Park, Greenfield Dr, Union City, TN 38261
Veteran’s Park stands as the second largest park within the Union City Park System. Its development was made possible through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Spanning 26 acres, this facility offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including a ¾-mile walking track that encircles an 11-acre pond. Amenities include a fishing pier and a covered pavilion equipped with restroom facilities. Additionally, the park features the “Armed Services Walkway,” adorned with flags representing all branches of the U.S. military, as well as the P.O.W. flag, the Tennessee state flag, and the U.S. flag.
Kiwanis Park
Kiwanis Park, S Depot St, Union City, TN 38261
Kiwanis Park holds the distinction of being the oldest park in the Union City Park System. Established in the late 1800s, the park features an ornamental fountain that the citizens of Union City initially acquired as a contribution to the Tennessee Centennial celebration in Nashville in 1896. Following the event, the fountain was returned and installed in Kiwanis Park in 1897.
The gazebo, originally constructed as a bandstand, has served as a focal point for numerous political and social events throughout its history.
Initially, the land was railroad property, which was acquired from the railroad by W.T. Perkins and subsequently donated to the city for use as a park.
Today, Kiwanis Park continues to be a vibrant downtown venue, hosting a variety of events, including weddings, birthday parties, and major community gatherings.
